Notes for patent applications

If you announce your invention at the 25th annual meeting of the Japanese Society for Marine Biotechnology before applying for a patent, you will lose the novelty and will not be able to obtain a patent. Therefore, if you wish to obtain a patent, please be sure to complete your patent application before presentation at this conference.

Please check the Japan Patent Office website carefully for procedures for applying the exceptions to the loss of novelty of an invention (Article 30 of the Patent Law). Under the current patent law, applicants only need to submit certificates prepared by themselves, and there is no longer a need to submit certificates issued by academic societies.

If you understand the above and wish to receive a certificate from the society, please be sure to contact the conference secretariat (marinebio2025@hiroshima-u.ac.jp) by May 7, 2025. Please note that if we do not receive a prior request, we will not be able to issue a certificate even if you request it after your presentation at this conference.
